ADREM: Well-articulated CSR strategy and orientation towards emerging technologies

The Adrem Group specializes in development, digitalization and maintenance of electrical networks, offering complete services for utility networks, including the management of metering groups and smart metering management. The company’s main objective is safety in the operation of utility networks, being a customer-oriented company, whose mission is to identify their needs in order to offer them the best solutions. Next, Andrei Berechet, CCO of Adrem, refers to the current economic situation and provides interesting details about the works carried out at the moment.

– How did the activity in the field of electrical installation execution evolve in 2023 and what will happen in the next period?

– The field of electrical installation execution has evolved a lot lately due to the energy transition process we are going through and will continue to develop on an upward trend, which will involve new technologies and new concepts. Currently, we are focusing more and more on energy efficiency, solutions and applications that reduce energy consumption and we are developing automation projects – an activity that allows remote monitoring and control of systems. I believe that in the future, energy storage, electric vehicles and smart grids will influence the requirements for electrical installations, in a positive sense, and we will witness technological progress, with new opportunities.

– Specify the level of turnover achieved by the company in 2022 and estimate its evolution in the current financial year.

– In the previous year, the Adrem group had a turnover of approximately RON 210 million, and for 2023, we budgeted RON 250 million, up 20%. The business has been on an upward trend since 2020, and the profit was aligned with the increase in turnover, which makes us happy and makes us have good prospects, to think about investments and larger projects. Also, in the first six months of this year we had a very good evolution, of almost 30% increase compared to the corresponding period of 2022, over 80% of the volume of budgeted contracts being already signed, which is another positive thing that helps us develop long-term strategies and think about new business opportunities.

– What are the main projects you are working on during this period?

– The increase in industry interest in solutions for the digitization of technical and business processes is reflected in the share of projects of this type in our activity in 2023. Moreover, the projects signed today will continue in 2024, some even in 2025. These are SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) energy infrastructure dispatching systems, Smart Metering solutions for electricity transmission and distribution, Enterprise Asset Performance Management systems, which not only optimize the operation of the infrastructure, but also decisively help in the efficient allocation of maintenance expenses (OPEX) and investments (CAPEX). Today we carry out such projects for customers in the field of electricity, as well as natural gas, water and heating networks, railway transport, etc. The portfolio of digitization projects currently underway alone amounts to over 30 million euros.

– What are the largest equipment suppliers you work with?

– We have several suppliers with whom we collaborate, depending on the scale and specifications of the projects we carry out. We always select our suppliers from the category of those with the best international reputation for quality and performance, having strategic partnerships with many of them. In the field of electrical installations on construction sites, technology is continuously advancing, bringing improvements in the efficiency and safety of construction processes. We are an innovative company, which always focuses on the latest technologies, being pioneers in several segments. As a general contractor, we offer integrated engineering, procurement, construction and installation services. In addition, we have in our portfolio energy audit services, integrated energy management system, photovoltaic installations and energy storage solutions, smart lighting solutions, BMS, energy management services and other solutions for various companies in the energy industry.

– What future directions of action do you propose in order to develop the company?

– We permanently invest in the best quality equipment, together with reliable partners with whom we have been collaborating for many years. We are also involved in the development of human resources, through internal trainings, attracting specialists who are up to date with new technologies, passionate and ambitious, who want to be part of Romania’s energy transition process. We are also involved in social and education projects, which are in line with our business strategy. For example, we are partners in the educational project “Apprentice Electrician”, developed by CEZ Romania, where we contribute to the training of future professionals in the industry. In addition, we participate in the event “Forum – Career in the Energy Industry”, organized by the Association of Energy Engineers and Electricians for students from the Faculty of Energetics, within UPB and we run internship programs in our company’s departments, where we bring young people from different faculties and familiarize them with the fields in which they have chosen to develop. Such educational projects are a necessity for the future of the energy field in Romania and the Adrem group will continue, under the umbrella of the corporate social responsibility policy, to support similar initiatives, with a direct impact on our industry. We aim to expand into complementary sectors, where the solutions and technologies we have successfully promoted can be naturally adapted and expanded, bringing value to our customers. For example, we promote digitalization solutions (smart metering, asset management) to new industries, at the beginning of their journey in this field, such as natural gas or water networks.
